I also have shoulder issues. I just got a Metaphysics high racer in the hopes of being able to do long rides again despite these health issues. I am in the process of replacing the 53/39 standard crank with an Ultegra triple. It does have a 12-36 in the back. Here where I live, in the Poconos, 10% hills are everywhere, and 18-20 % are common. Near my house is a 2 mile long 12% average hill. Like you,John, I never worried about these on my uprights. Do you think an average rider can do these kinds of hills on a recumbent without falling over or weaving all over the road? Way to preserve!rick Collinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02125865405134427217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8261828531287706924.post-47958317523831164392013-04-01T07:42:26.943-07:002013-04-01T07:42:26.943-07:00When a tire hits a rock one of two things happen.

Just what I was looking for for a new bike I am thinking about. Are there any suggestions for tube diameters (Std vs OS), wall thickness (0.9mm, 0.8 mm, etc), to move towards planing? Also, since planing implies a flexible frame, does using a low trail geometry mike shimmy more likely?? Well, it's true that we all get attached to the names of the people we love but it is also true that what we really love is the people underneath the names. The name just becomes representational. So if that person we really love definitively said he wanted to change his name, i can tell you that I for one would say "Tell me when!" Now, there are some limits. I know you love the names Herbert and Mortimer and I am sure they have long lineages of meaning for you, but I think those would be tougher for me. Mainly because those names signify the past, and you are so much about the present and the future! Newton, on the other hand, is a brilliant name for your intrepid bicycle and it seems even more perfect to me because Newton was indeed an explorer and a curious one at that. So, Stevie and Newton, ride on joyfully! We know you will travel those many roads--in your heart, minds and on the roads.
